surely that can't be so, but true enough there were only 17 episodes made. It must have been repeated in the 1970s because I know most of the words to the theme tune .
Also who knew that Harry from Spooks
Is Scooper!
I know!
]]>
My favourite is the littlest one . You can see him here
]]>wonderfully dated . The graphics are 1960s /1970s
`The pace is slow and in every episode it seems you get introduced to the characters all over again , even though you already know that YES Mary lives in the flat , Mungo is her dog and Midge is the mouse . They go up and down in the lift alot , that's about it .
]]>it didn't take very long I immediately came across a great website with action figure checklists , with a page for troll warriors , you can see it here figurerealm.com
They let me know that we have Eyrick The Marksman and Knut the Inventor both from the basic series . check them out here
]]>look at the state of him .
It didn't take long to work out it was a sweetie pup .
The wonderful website ghostofthedoll.co.uk gave us permission to use a photo of how he is supposed to look ! (Click on the photo to take you to their sweetie pups page).
looks like we have our work cut out !
]]>I google Lensed him and finally found him . Of course , Ziggy.
so then I regular googled him to find out more.
There is obviously a more famous Ziggy . Lots of pictures of David Bowie . Lots of interesting products to look at but all related to Ziggy Stardust , not my Ziggy.
It didn't take long to find products with him on them though.
There were all kinds of merchandise of Ziggy to had in the 70s and 80s, but I couldn't find another candle like this one
He was a comic strip illustrated by Tom Wilson. Apparently he appeared in over 500 different publications.
I'm still not sure which newspaper he may have been published in the U.K. ? DO you Know ?
]]>
today's random rabbit hole started with this ....
ah whose on the badge mirror with Donald .
hang on . the three amigos . GOOGLE it ..no the three cabarellos.
ah good. So what are their names ?
ha ha brilliant .
Pearly King Cake known for amazing celebration cakes and supplying loads of local cafes and restaurants with their sweet treats is only one of them.
They reopened yesterday with the addition of provisions and coffee to supply the locals . I popped in for a brownie , the best of brownies , that you just can't get anywhere else.
While I was there I picked up some beautiful borlotti beans and rhubarb. strong white flour from shipton mill , some Wogan Coffee and some homemade marmalade.
I would have bought some flowers as well, I saw them on pearly kings instagram , but they were all sold out already . So I guess i'm just going to have to get there earlier next week .
Thats the key you have to keep going back.
]]>All kinds of transport ,Club Displays , A Show and Shine and of course a big old vintage market and auto jumble .
It was absolutely chucking it down for the classic car show earlier in the year so we are hoping for better weather.
Come and see us it will be fun .
]]>
She is known as the "Florence Nightingale" Troll. I thought she looked more like a 1940s -1950s Matron nurse in her cape than Florence Nightingale , but there we are, I don't have any say in the names.
Then I went down a rabbit hole of looking at the history of nurses uniforms...
check out military nurses uniforms on scarletfinders.co.uk .
The more usual nurse troll , all in white can to be found here too at the mo.
]]>Sometimes we have a few come along at once and I always feel I need to have a go at doing them.
Firstly because I need to see if they are complete with no pieces missing and secondly because they are beautiful things that can't just be thrown away.
Most of the time they have a few pieces missing so it was unsurprising that the 1938-1939 Snow White jigsaw had one piece missing .
I photographed it and packed it away.
it has such a lovely box and picture, definitely worth hanging on to .
A couple of days later I found the missing piece in my jacket pocket! what are the chances, it must have fallen in there when I was unpacking , anyway I'm going to have to do the puzzle again now so that I can get a photo of the complete jigsaw.
Watch this space for the complete Snow White souvenir jigsaw by William Ellis. The 400 piece version was released around 1938 which makes it contemporary to the original release of the film in cinemas in the same year.

We are really concentrating on vintage stuff these days and building quite a collection of vintage toys . So we have decided to put on sale pretty much all of our new products some them our best sellers so move quickly to grab a genuine bargain.
Then over the next few weeks we will have new categories on the website making it easier to navigate all of our vintage stuff .
]]>
As we have a regular spot on Corn Street at the Bristol Flea Market we are going to be there as usual on Saturday and then outside St Nicks on Sunday.
We will be selling our usual vintage toys ,comics, and kitsch and vintage collectables along with a few extra bargains just for this weekend.
Douglas The Shop Dog will also be making a special appearance!
There is also a Vintage Market on Hanover Quay on Sunday so there will be plenty of vintage shopping to be done over the weekend at both ends of the festival.
]]>
So we have shared them on the website for sale.
The Fairy Star Watch with its original strap has been waiting fo the right polly to come along and finally she arrived . We took the back off and changed the battery and it works well. So this is a complete and working digital watch.
The Polly Secret Diary is also working but does not come with a doll. We can't actually post this with the batteries in it so have a look at the photos with a battery in you can see the screen working.
Finally the Blossom Brooch does not have its fairy polly doll . We have been waiting a while to find one but decided to let it go without to a discerning collector. The plastic clip on the back has snapped off so if you were thinking of wearing it you would need to attach a clip. I think if you were intending to wear this you would have needed to do that anyway as the plastic clips are flimsy. Losing this when you were wearing it would be a tragedy.
]]>A Disney Alice in Wonderland one with the Mad Hatter and White rabbit is definitely one of my favourites .
We also have two variations of Hap and Hop the little soldier characters that come in various coloured uniforms and variations.
Popeye comes pushing a wheelbarrow full of spinach.
One for the Hanna Barbara Finds Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound together.
We have said this one is Figaro the cat from Pinocchio but I am always happy be corrected.
And finally these two have already left the building, but we are always on the look out for more. Top cat and Benny is another one of many that goes great with this collection.

I am always looking for interesting record boxes to store all of my albums. It is often pretty hard . Anytime I have seen any at vintage fairs or flea markets the sellers are often really reluctant to let them go because they are storing their vinyl that they are selling in them. Or they are big bucks.
These are brand new with a great retro design, they are made of cardboard like they often were in the 60s and 70s. They are well made and they fit in nicely with a vintage decor.
click the pic to go and have a look if you want.
Battery operated record players are the way forward for festival goers this year apparently. If that is true then you are going to need something with a handle to carry your records in as well.
]]>
A whole bunch of retro biscuit tins . They are new but licensed with original advertising. So which one to have?
The Rich Tea and Milk Chocolate Digestive tins are cylinders so you can stack the biscuits. I immediately thought I could shove one of these in a corner in my camper van and not take up too much space. Rich tea biscuits were voted Britains favourite Tea dunking biscuit and they seem pretty retro to me , I've not had one for years , so I'm going to go and get some and put them in my retro tin.
I'm also going to have a Club orange tin for my lunch tin, they are a really good size for that . I couldn't stand Club Fruit , so even though I like the colour i'm not going for that . When I say couldn't stand , I would eat one if someone gave it to me. Actually my favourite Club Biscuit was Mint if you are interested, but they don't make a Club Mint tin so there we are.
]]>
It is free to get in and there are a mixture of vintage stalls and quality artisan makers.
We will be bringing along a great selection of My Little Ponies , Sylvanians and Trolls along with lots of other vintage toys that are not on the website.
If you are local and you would like to place an order to pick up on Saturday just let us know we will refund your postage and bring along your package. !
See you there for a mince pie!
]]>November 17th between 4 and 7pm at the Pearly King shop.
So what can you expect , well from us , there will definitely be some trolls , my little pony , polly pockets , sylvanians and keypers.
We will also bring all sorts of bits and pieces a few ninja turtles , mighty max and transformers .
What will Pearly King be offering , well that will be a surprise for us all, but we know for sure that it will be delicious and a treat . There will definitely be an 80s slant I know that much!
We are also going to bring along some new bits that compliment like the unicorn tea lights that you can buy singly on the day (we normally only sell them in sets) and some unicorn night lights because they will look great lighting up the window in the evening .
]]>When we are researching we look at all sorts of things and come upon some moments of childhood that are definitely of their time.
I remember really loving this and happily watching it as a child. It is so slow moving and calm compared with programmes of today . Children would move on quickly to the next video these days without relaxing and going with it
]]>One of the main characters , Desperate Dan didn't actually hit the front cover until 1984 before that it was Korky the Cat. He was always very popular though and was known for his love of Cow Pies.
The Dandy's Fan club was called the Desperate Dan Pie eaters Club.
You could join up by sending a cheque or postal order with your filled in form and you were going to get some goodies.
We have a set for sale at the moment . In remarkably good condition . The membership card has not been removed from the main sheet . It looks like the whole lot have been stored away and never been used. Sadly the stickers have been mislaid so the set is not complete. I have a feeling that we may have been the ones to mislay them , so there is a still chance that they will turn up . If they do we will add them on.
There are the two badges , the membership wallet and the leaflet that has some music building exercises, top secret challenges , pie eaters passwords so that you could have a secret code to greet other members of the club. A letter from Desperate Dan welcoming you to the club and of course your membership card that you could remove from the sheet and put in your wallet.
]]>She has finally made it on to the website after hanging out with me for a while.
We will miss her when she goes to her new home.
]]>the rare one in the bunch this time is
Thirsty Smurf .
dating from 1979 . numbered 20057
the standard version comes in four variations of colour . this is the orange bottle with yellow straw .
This little guy is hard to find . However the variations that are promotional are rare . Pepsi , fanta , etc
check out Ron's Collection
for some great examples of promotional smurfs .
]]>They are from a time where political satire was easy. The programme ended in the mid 1990s when politicians on the whole became faceless . We have certainly entered a time where political satire is handed to us on a plate , maybe it is time for a revival of the iconic programme.
I have personally collected all of the spitting image dog toys and have them displayed at home. We do sell them as well, but I always make sure that I have one of each for myself. We have most of them on sale at the moment.
Mikhail Gorbachev is the rarest of the group. I have always found him to be in good condition. Never been chewed by a dog.
George Bush Sr is pretty hard to find in the U.K. He has Dan Quayle, who was his Vice President in his pocket.
Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan as a pair are the most popular. Story goes they are dressed as the Kray twins and are Maggie and Ronnie.
Then there is Neil Kinnock dressed as a clown with Roy Hattersley as his red nose and David Owen with a little David Steel in his pocket
In our personal collection we have the Spitting image characters by Kevin Francis that were modelled by Roger Law. They were produced in a limited edition of around 650. we have Margaret Thatcher , Neil Kinnock and John Major.
Check out this best ever clips tribute .

In the coming months we will be adding vintage toys to the site. We have had lots of people asking about it , all of the polly pockets, mighty max, trolls and Care Bears will be available to buy online. We just need to clean up the shop and then we will be raring to go
]]>There is 30% off in store on everything including all of the already reduced stuff. so if you are local, come , there are some real bargains.
All of the collectables and vintage toys will soon be making their way online and we will continue to add new products everyday to our website over the next few months.
We have had a physical shop on park street for 16 years now and have watched many of our regulars grow up . We will miss waving and saying good morning to at least half a dozen people every morning on our way in , but we will be looking for a new location soon . We will keep you posted.
